Had coffee downtown, walked a bit, then sat in front of Humboldt Forum. Sketched Berlin Fernsehturm at sunset, finished right before its lights were turned on.

Sitting on the balcony at the beginning of 2 weeks off of work. Finished reading: The World of Urban Sketching by Stephanie Bower 📚. Sketched Champi in the same pose on his bed again on the same page. The laurel-cherry hedges have berries, I’m wondering when the courtyard blackbird will eat them.

Went to the sun-drenched café after work. A wasp walked around my americano saucer, and I sat awfully still leaning back to get a photo of it.
The buddleia are still in bloom (the first of these flowers I saw started to blossom at the end of June). I hadn’t noticed how many there are in the neighborhood until my walk today.
Spent the evening around Gendarmenmarkt. Sat on a bench on the square and sketched the Schiller Monument. Caught a good view of the Plattenbau apartment buildings of Leipziger Str in golden hour light.

Watched: The Odyssey 🍿 - so loud!
First tall streetside sunflower of the season on the walk home
Saw Football World Cup final ESP - ARG (1:0). It’s been a long five weeks; I ended up watching many more games than expected (missing mostly the matches after my bedtime) - quite a lot of my free time. Looking forward to what I’ll do with those hours and my full attention span in the coming weeks…
Highlights of the walk downtown Berlin today: crows on the roof of Kanzleramt and knapweed wildflowers at the tram stop (plus got to ride in the brand new Urbanliner tram on the way into town).
